Seek to Know God and Not His Plan Only.

I walked around a butterfly biosphere this week.

It was brilliant, and those detailed little creatures were brilliant.
I really enjoyed watching the people there to watch them. Some were afraid of the frail little things, and others totally fascinated by everything about them.
Many small children sat painfully and oh so intentionally still with their pointer fingers extended as a perch, praying some butterfly would make it their landing pad for a short moment. Consequential tears or giggles added to the experience of it all.
In this butterfly bubble, I had a front-row seat to so much waiting, watching, chasing, and changing - that only now can I think back on that moment with the sort of careful consideration required to highlight this truth:
I was so impressed by the colors on their wings because I know the One Who designed them.
When our investment is in only one plan and associated outcome, we are limited by variables and capped by unexpected changes.
Our ink of imagination cannot draw further than the limits of expectation.
Indeed, we often deal less-than-gracefully with obstacles and plot twists.
However, when we invest in an intimate relationship with the Creator, we surpass plan limitations and enter a realm of limitless opportunity.
Even one that welcomes change, obstacles, and growth, for that is where His power is most clearly showcased.
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3
‘Eternal’ means with no tangible end or limit. ‘Life’ refers to that both now and after the grave.
By knowing Him, we access His ability to write and rewrite - not simply one inflexible product of His powers.
Perhaps the most effective and efficient game planning will always include more time spent getting to know the One Who wins every game.
Perhaps knowing the plan has never been as important as trusting the One Who created it.
