Humility is not a principal of scarcity.

I was impressed by several acts of the Savior while studying His life in the New Testament this week.

But I was most interested in the directions He gave afterward.

“See that no man know it.”

“See thou tell no man; but go thy way.”

“And he charged them straitly that no man should know it.”

He didn’t stop using His power to heal and bless.

He didn’t emphasize how small He was to teach the greatness of His Father.

He didn’t wince at the words of doubt or scorn.

He simply turned their attention to God.

All He did was to glorify Him.

My seminary students could tell you that that's what we are to do, too. (Matthew 5)

It’s not a matter of “less” me - it’s always been more God.

So we should not stop using our talents to bless and heal the broken hearts in our spheres of influence.

We shouldn’t lead with how broken, worthless, or weak we are and we mustn’t wince at the words of doubt or scorn that have and will come despite our best efforts to be good.

We are to simply invite God into focus, and let His light shine - through us, on us, and before us.

Light dispels darkness, even the darkness of unnecessarily believing our contributions are more or less than they are.

Humility is not acknowledging our weakness, but acknowledging God’s omnipotence.

Not less us, just more God.
