Why He didn’t run.

We were discussing the New Testament story of Jesus Christ healing Jairus’ daughter.

My group of inspired knuckleheads had their scriptures open.

They noted how desperate Jairus was in his plea to Christ, and how much faith he must have had to approach Him while his own daughter lay on her death bed.

They read as the Savior paused on His way so He could heal the woman with an issue of blood.

Plagued 12 years, released in a Savior-involved instant.

They were grateful He paused, because they know what it’s like to be plagued.

Meanwhile, Jairus’ daughter died. And I can’t say I’d blame Jairus if part of his father heart that was trying hard to trust wanted to die, too.

But Christ soon arrived, and the daughter soon returned. As did any fractured trust in this Lord of Miracles, I imagine.

They were grateful He raised her from the dead, because they know what it’s like to have much to rise from.

So I wanted to hear their response- Why wouldn’t He run?

He paused. We study a Savior who ‘runs to the aid of’, so why was this experience the exception?

Because I know they know what it’s like to need aid, preferably timely aid.

So I pitched my question.

An answer, perhaps The answer came:

“Because, He’s got eternity to work with.”

——

This short sentence answer belied its reach, even the hearts of many.

Often, the sense of time and urgency we feel in this life is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

So if ever we’re tempted to question the Lord’s pace in coming to our aid, please don’t forget-

He’s got eternity to work with.

I witness of a Lord and Father in Heaven Who work in our wait.
