It promotes accountability.
When I share more, more ears and hearts serve as benchmarks and reminders to live in accordance with what I know and what I’ve said.
Perhaps part of the reason we are counseled to share our witness is to promote accountability in living it.
Perhaps that accountability is also why we hesitate.
One casual definition of integrity expresses, “Say what you mean, mean what you say.”
A testimony borne is a testimony born.
Even an invitation to all hearers to hold the bearer accountable.
And, most often, a deep desire forms in the bearer to mean what they say and live how they pray.
“Others see God through our [integrity] - words and deeds.” Elder Gerard
The words we share to express our conviction about Jesus Christ and His Restored Church demand a complimentary set of reinforcing behavior.
I don’t have to be perfect to bear testimony.
But, truly, bearing testimony - as One once bore a cross - requires the type of humility, sacrifice, and accountability that qualifies covenant children of God to know and become like Him someday.
Even perfect.
So I’ll keep sharing - however clumsily.
In hopes others might need it, but in certainty that I do.
Jesus Christ lives and His Word, Church, Power, and Prophet exist on the earth today.
